Sept 10?
Hey how's it going im currently living and working
in galliano and today i decided after work i would go down and check out
fourchon for some surf. So i head down and when i get there the place got pretty
beat up, i continue to the beach and see large tents with people loading stuff
into 18 wheelers right before the bridge. I could see the bridge was closed so i
parked switched into my trunks grabbed my board and ran for the bridge. What i
saw next completely shocked me, as i was walking across the bridge i could hear
the roar of massive waves and see a whole lot of white. I quickly ran barefoot
from the bridge to the beach entrance. When i got there i found that the beach
was completely gone and the wave were massive, sloppy and mushy but massive. The
waves were crashing into those concrete bag things under them was a slanted
brick wall where the sand use to be. Some waves would roll up the wall then back
down creating a south bound wave that would crash into the ones coming in,
creating this huge 10 foot spray. I stood and observed for awhile, the waves
past the rock jetties had 10 foot faces on the easy, the ones closer to the
beach would form real clean at about 5 to 6 foot tall and look almost perfect
then break over into a kinda mush but rideable wave. So i stood there alone
thinking about jumping in and going for it but in the back of my mind i was like
man i could easily get drug out to sea and no one would ever know. I didn't have
my lease because i left it in my bros truck so i would have with out a doubt
crashed my board into the brick wall. So i continued to think about it, threw a
jug in the water to see if the current was real bad and it didn't seam to be,
but eventually a wave caught the jug and slammed it into the concrete wall. I
continued to watch and think and then all of a sudden i hear GET YOUR CRAP AND
GET OUT OF HERE!!! I look back and a port police had busted me. He then told me
south of the flood gates was a mandatory evac and that i needed to get out of
here. So i gather my things and start the walk back to the bridge. So if anyone
ask about going down that way to surf its completely out of the question. Its
probably a good thing i got busted, could be out in the middle of the gulf right
now if not for that. Also i attached some pics. Notice the white in the distance
from the bridge pics.
